Holy New Site, Batman!
So you’re probably wondering:
- “Am I at the right site?â€
- “Where’s Lew’s Lunch?â€
- “Where’s the Fat Chart?â€
or maybe just
- “What the F?â€
Well, it was time for me to face some facts. I had fallen sadly behind in the world of bloggers, and running such a technologically inferior site was just not me. Besides that, there’s some great frameworks to build websites on that would make my life a hell of a lot easier when it came to maintaining the site. In short, with the old goettner.net, if I wanted something new, I had to write it myself. This way, I just add modules and modify them as I need.
As for all the old stuff, I’m going to work on porting everything over to WordPress (the software now running the site), and since it’s all so shiny and new, I’ll actually be motivated to do it (I think.). In order of importance, I’ll work on Lew’s Lunch, then the Fat Chart, then the old posts, and finally some of the old galleries. Expect the site to be in a state of constant flux for a little while.
Now, on the shiny new stuff.
- I’ve got RSS now. Want to subscribe to the Goettner.net news feed? Go for it.
- I have a nice post editor that will actually let me go back and fix all my terrible spelling mistakes.
- There’s comment system. This actually worries me a touch. Luckily, it also has a built in moderation system, in case I become the target of some spammers, or some of you bastards are just too mean. I don’t actually know how it works yet, but if you figure it our before I can post instructions, go for it.
- Finally, and this is what I’m most proud of, I modified part of the system to accept posts directly from my cell phone. I figured, I’ve got all this damn technology on my person at all times, why not use it. This will be what is hopefully be my leg up on all you other new bloggers out there, like Keif, whoops, I mean Keith. Instead of having to remember some of the more amusing things I come across, I’ll just snap a picture with the phone, and push it directly to the site. I actually expect more posts to come this way then the standard way. You’ll know those posts because they’ll all be in the “From my Treo†category. (I have categories now too!)
Oh, and don’t worry, until I actually finish all of that previous work, you can find the old Goettner.net at old.goettner.net. So original, I know.

Time for some math (results rounded for human consumption)! That means I've driven the car just shy of 35 miles a day on average for almost 8 yea... 100,000 Miles on the WRX!](http://cdn.goettner.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/IMG_01921-300x279.jpg)
