Got it! Although I’m not posting from it at the moment. Still waiting on WordPress’s iPhone app to make it through Apple approval. They must be mighty backed up because almost every app I’ve downloaded has claimed they’ve uploaded updated versions fixing the bugs, but I’ve yet to see any of them make it through to the iTunes store yet.

For the record, I’m not really upset at AT&T like a lot of the people out there posting about their miserable waits. I’m just a nerd who wanted his new toy, and the waiting was driving me nuts, mostly because the backordered status kept going on and off every day. Their backorder email claimed a likely 5-7 day fulfillment, and it did ship at the last possible hour on the 7th day. So, really, they waited just long enough to get it out in the promised time (ignoring what the guy in the store said, who I don’t think had a clue anyway) and maximized the amount of free blog press from myself and countless others writing about their wait. Seems like an pretty good PR stunt if it was intentional.

Well, I think it’s safe to say that the store guy’s initial “You’ll have it on Monday or Tuesday” was less than accurate. The worst part about waiting is that the AT&T order status page screws with you every day. At some point, my order comes off backorder. I inevitibly get my hopes us, even though this has happened every day, and then it switches back to backordered. Bastards. Also frustrating is that online I read about people who ordered as late as Sunday and already have their phones. Bastards!

I finally decided that at the new price point and speed, that the nerd in me could no longer resist getting an iPhone. However, I wasn’t feeling up to standing in line for a few hours, so yesterday I went over to the AT&T store at lunch to place an order. (Bonus: AT&T is right next door to Baja Fresh!) They guy taking it said if I express shipped it I should get in the Monday/Tuesday range. I thought, hey, that’s worth $14, and sure beats standing in line.

And then, today I got an email:

Boo. The new timeframe (5-7 days) pushes it back a week or two, and I no longer feel that it was worth the $14. Bastards. I guess I should have just gone and stood in line with the rest of my nerd brethren if I really wanted it immediately.

Yea, I know I’m supposed to be losing weight. But it was right next door to the AT&T store. I couldn’t resist. Baja Burrito for this guy!
